Stats
Statistics can be interesting. Here are a few from The Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life. Though the data is a little over a year old I expect its still valid. (Source data)
All of these numbers are for Idaho only.
Percent of people who say they are certain that God exists - 71%
Percent of people who say that religion is very important in their life - 58%
Percent of people who pray at least once per day - 60%
Percent of people who regularly attend a religious service - 45%
While its easy to jump to conclusions about numbers that might not be valid, I find it interesting that while many people believe in a divine being, fewer people believe that God is interested in their daily life or in personal conversation with them, and even fewer believe that God has designed them for any sort of religious community involvement.
The God of the bible is extremely personal. Christ came and lived among us, sacrificing himself for our personal sins so that we can be in communion with God forever. God has also saved us to be his people, together, in the community of the Church, to worship and enjoy him forever together.
